As you would expect
our philosophy is exceptionally French.
Enjoy good food and good wine in
good company…
…it is a simple one, but like anything the hard work comes in achieving this while making it look effortless.
We go to great length to choose only the finest and freshest ingredients which are then transformed into mouth watering dishes by our award winning chefs.
Just as importantly our front of house team is on hand to ensure everything is just right from the moment you step though the door to the second you finish your dessert, place your napkin on the plate and wonder if it’s not too late for a digestif.
We would like to extend our warmest welcome to La Grillade Restaurant.

By buying the finest and freshest products available in Yorkshire, coupled with employing the most highly-trained and caring staff, we believe that the experience of dining at our restaurant will be memorable and unique. At La Grillade, the customer comes first.
La Grillade Restaurant is run by
Guy Martin-Laval, the charismatic Leeds restaurateur who has brought a touch of the south of France to this renowned Leeds city centre restaurant and wine bar.
If the city of Leeds has an equivalent of London’s notorious Groucho Club, it must be La Grillade. Here, in the bowels of an unremarkable building in Wellington Street, the cream of West Yorkshire’s business, media and legal community meet to eat, drink, talk and – above all – to relax in he most congenial of surroundings.
The star of La Grillade is undoubtedly Guy. The very name evokes Gallic charm and glamour, and Guy does not disappoint. He has been running La Grillade for 30 years, ever since he took Leeds’s moribund restaurant world by storm in 1981, and has since become a legend in his own lunchtime and dinnertime, too.
He knows all his customers by name and never fails to provide the warmest of welcomes. La Grillade is a Leeds dining institution – and Guy is at the heart of it.
Guy says: “My customers are very special to me. Many having been coming here since I opened in 1981 and have become dear friends over the years. Friendship, conversation, good food and fine wine, those are the key ingredients of an enjoyable meal and that is I what I hope I have achieved during these past 30 years”.
